Tube Bodies / Trophy Wives is the newest iteration of Elle Hong & Madison Palffy collaborative dance works, exploring queerness, abjection, and artifice. In this work, two performers explore the organic within the artificial and the artificial within the organic. They embody trophies, crystallizing in time and gesture, and observing how the body adjusts to accommodate this imagining. They contrastingly embody tubular anatomy, questioning how the understanding of bodies as one long, digestional tube allows for new, abstracted approaches towards embodiment. The dancers flit between unison, partnering choreography, and a commitment to one's "wild horse impulse" that disregards the formal. They are tubes and trophies, plastic and flesh. Sometimes both, and sometimes a secret third thing.
