Class Description:
I believe in dance class as a space where magic can happen; where we can fly, shake, slither, roll, and leap. Where we can honor the bodies that we have--with all of their beautiful idiosyncrasies--and learn to use them more efficiently and joyfully. We will spend a lot of time on the floor. Drawing upon systems such as Contact Improvisation, release technique, and the Axis Syllabus, we will look at floor-work as a series of mini falls, ramps, and spills that then prepare us to take bigger risks when moving through space. Experimenting with rhythms, partnering, and locomotion, the class is infused with somatic principles and improvisational explorations.
